I had a third panel drawn where I had Alison Bechdel drawn up like a monster, but it made it seem like I was poking fun at Alison Bechdel herself and I decided it was really jerky. Mostly I just wanted to be ludicrous, and that’s much better accomplished this way.

Also, as the movie Alien taught us, not only can women be actual real and interesting characters, but that the monster is always best when it exists largely offscreen and in the imagination.

Also also, remember kids that the bechdel test is a tool used to illustrate the pervasiveness of certain types of characters, and does not inherently determine the goodness/badness of a given item. It’s a data collection tool, not a measure of quality. <3 <3
